Pokémon Go Starts the New Year with January 2021 Events

After a challenging year for everyone, 2021 is around the corner and Pokémon Go has a line-up of fun events for January. Pokémon Go made massive changes throughout the year to keep players catching Pokémon while social distancing: remote raids and Team Rocket was introduced. The first event actually starts December 31, 2020, at 10:00 pm with many costumed Pokémon.

The initial event on December 31 lasts until January 4 at 10:00 PM local time will feature many costumed Pokémon and most notably a Slowpoke wearing 2020 glasses as he is a little late to everything. Other costumed Pokémon will be Pikachu, Raichu, Slowbro, Pichu, and maybe more teased by Pokémon Go.

The next set of surprises lays within the new lineup of raids for January. For the five-star raids, trainers will be able to battle Legendary and Mythical Pokémon such as Ho-Oh, Groudon, Heatran, Genesect variation, Kyogre, and another surprise Pokémon. The Mega Raids will be hosting Mega Venusaur, Charizard Y, Mega Blastoise, Houndoom, and Abomasnow.

The Spotlight Hour will also occur from 6:00 PM to 7:ooPM local time every Tuesday throughout January. For the first hour starting on January 5, trainers will be seeing Lillipup with extra stardust to earn. The lineup for the rest of the Tuesdays is Drifloon, Shroomish, and ending with Phanpy. To wrap up all the new events and Pokémon for the New Year, Chansey will be available as a Research Breakthrough for the whole month of January starting the 1st at 1:00 PM PST.

There will also be a new Pokémon debut in the Mega Raids as well. Pokémon Go offers a wonderful way to end 2020 and ring in the New Year for 2021.
