Pokémon Go Releases Legendary Dog Pokémon In Their Newest Update

Niantic has released a Pokémon Go update allowing players to catch legendary dog Pokémon Entei, Raikou, and Suicune starting August 31.

Pokémon Go trainers around the world had a chance to catch their first legendary Pokémon this past summer. Through a new raid battle feature, teams worked together to catch legendary bird Pokémon Lugia, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. Pokémon Go’s legendary Pokémon release proved unsuccessful at first, as the kick off event for the new update ended in a slew of connection issues and app crashes. Fortunately, the issues plaguing the first batch of legendary releases have been fixed, and now trainers can look forward to catching three new legendary Pokémon.

Trainers must participate in raid battles again to catch any of the legendary dogs, Entei, Raikou, and Suicune but all three will not be available in the same regions at first. Pokémon Go released information on their website with specific details about each Pokémon’s location for the first month:

  • Raikou, an Electric-type Legendary Pokémon, can be battled throughout the Americas.
  • Entei, a Fire-type Legendary Pokémon, can be battled throughout Europe and Africa.
  • Suicune, a Water-type Legendary Pokémon, can be battled throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

At the end of the month on September 30, the legendaries will move locations and trainers will have a chance to catch a different Pokémon in their region for another month. Some trainers may also be a part of the “EX Raid Battle (formerly Exclusive Raid Battle) field-testing phase at select Gyms before the feature is made available globally.” Passes for the new feature will be distributed to certain trainers soon, “and those invited will have an opportunity to try out the new system as early as September 6.”

Fans also expect future releases of legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo to occur soon, but there is no official announcement as to when it will happen.

Pokémon Go trainers can catch Entei, Raikou, and Suicune until October 31.
