Pokémon GO has become the most popular game throughout the whole world and now the developers of the game have come up with a new update that will have fans very excited about the future of the game. Being that Pokémon GO is an interactive game that involves players being outside; it’s possible that this update was due to current events of COVID-19. The development team from Pokémon GO recently made an announcement that players can now play and earn PokéCoins from the comfort of their home while practicing the safety precautions that have been advised around the world during this time.

Niantic, the developers of Pokémon GO, made the announcement on their website about the update. They stated that “Right now, the only way to earn PokéCoins is to defend Gyms. But since Pokémon Go’s release, we’ve added features that have vastly changed the way you play. In addition, with more Trainers playing at home, we’re looking to provide more ways for you to earn PokéCoins while playing in one place. So, in the future, we’ll be rewarding you with PokéCoins for activities besides defending Gyms.”

They continue on to say that in order for this new method of earning PokéCoins to work, the numbers of PokéCoins earned from the Gyms will have to be reduced from six per hour or maybe two. They believe the maximum number of PokéCoins that fans can earn in a day will be increased to 55.

Niantic will soon be testing this new update with Trainers in Australia only, and then it will be released to all trainers after this testing phase. During this testing in Australia, Niantic will be collecting feedback and see if they will need to perform any additional testing based on the results.

This is something that the Pokémon GO team has been very excited for and can’t wait for their hardcore Pokémon GO fans to play this new method of the popular game.
