Pokemon Go Brings Nintendo’s Value Ahead Of Sony

Despite all the issues that Pokemon Go it has become one of the most successful apps of today. This game has broke records and almost everyone is playing it. There have been so many users that Nintendo’s stock has skyrocketed since its release. Through the chart below from Bloomberg, you can see the effects the release had on Nintendo, even though Pokemon Go is not a Nintendo release Nintendo is succeeding because of the amount of shares that they own of The Pokemon Company. Nintendo has now reached 39.88 Billion which just exceded Sony’s 38.38 Billion market. This is a crazy feat as Sony has been ahead of Nintendo by a large margin for quite a bit, but within one week of Pokemon Go that margin decreased and Nintendo surpassed Sony.

Just in the first week, Pokemon Go has already broken records. It has broken the record the amount of daily stocks traded. So even though this game has many bugs, server issues, and glitches it is still able to be widely successful around the few countries that it is in. That is what is crazy though, is that the app is not made available to everyone yet, so this could be just the beginning of the giant spike in Nintendo’s stock. This was just a perfect opportunity and time for Niantic to release the app, as most kids are on summer break and are looking for that new game to play to keep them occupied, and it is released near a bunch of movie reboots and sequels bringing back a big nostalgic feeling for the older generations.

This game not only is breaking financial records, but is also helping to bring people outside and creating a strong community. The community came out of necessity and because as you are walking around you just meet a bunch of other people who also play so you either ask for help on where rare Pokemon are nearby or go around and catch Pokemon together. The community came out of necessity as well because Niantic cleverly did not have any help tools or guides released to help players, forcing people to work together to catch them all. One of the greatest things the community as a whole solved so far is the little Eevee easter egg to force its evolution, which was throwback to the original Anime. This would have been nearly impossible for one person to tell the world of their findings, so luckily the community is so large and helpful that word soon spread of the finding and has helped a lot of players be the very best.
