Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Slated for September

Bandai Namco announced today that Pac-Man 2 Championship Edition 2 will be released in September for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.

The trailer showcases the high-speed, gorgeous, retro Pac-Man action that players fell in love with in previous installments of the classic series revival. You still collect pellets and devour ghosts, as expected, but now with the added visual and sound nirvana that next-gen gaming provides in addition to brand new modes and features. There will be brand new mazes to explore and master, as well as the ability to bump ghosts, adding new strategic elements to an already surprisingly deep game. The official release statement says that Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 will “also build upon Pac-Man Championship Edition DX’s “Chain Eating” mechanics by enabling fans to build up to four ghost trains before chowing down for maximum chompage points.” Those who have played thousands of hours on the iconic arcade machine will find new challenges to sharpen their skills, and see where they stand among the legion of die-hard Pac-Man players around the world.

Two modes have been announced thus far. There is the returning Score Attack mode, where your speed will be tested to collect as many pellets before the timer expires, as well as the brand new Adventure mode. This mode applies the original Pac-Man game to exciting new variables, such as moving fruit, boss battles, and other unannounced features.

Championship Edition 2 will be featured and playable at San Diego Comic Con this year. Be sure to check out their booth, and gorge yourself on 3-D Pac-Man bliss.
