Pokémon Exec Talks About The NX And Pokémon’s Future With The Console

We still know next to nothing about the NX, nothing confirmed anyway. According to the latest batch of rumors, the console could be handheld/home console hybrid that will use cartridges instead of discs and the device might be region-free. All of this is second-hand mind you, the only thing Nintendo has said is that the console itself exists and will be out early next year. However, companys related to Nintendo are talking about the console.

Back in early August, we reported that Nintendo has plans to release new Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon title on the NX within six months of the device’s release. With Mario being a no brainer and Zelda already confirmed as a launch title all that is left is Pokémon and as of yesterday, we may have gotten that confirmation.

In an article by Polygon, it was said by Pokémon Company executive Tsunekazu Ishihara in an interview with the WallStreet Journal that the company is very interested in developing for the console. From what it sounds like the game won’t be farmed out like past console Pokémon games. In our previous post (via MCV) it was said that Game Freak, developers of the core games, will be making the NX game. Ishihara didn’t say if the game will be out at launch so we only have the six-month time frame to go off of.

We will make games for the NX.

Ishihara did talk specifically about the NX saying that it will be more than a standard home console or handheld.

The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be out for all Nintendo handhelds on November 18th. In the meantime, you can read about how Nintendo will have to change its PR strategy for the NX.
