Publisher ININ Games and developer Smallthing Studios have released a new trailer for their point-and-click adventure prequel Simon the Sorcerer Origins. Gematsu reports that the title will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux on October 28. PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC will receive a limited Special Edition including downloadable content. The original Simon the Sorcerer was released on the Amiga and PC in 1993.

Simon the Sorcerer Origins takes place in a fantastical parallel universe with magic and monsters. Players will assume the role of Simon, a rebellious teenager transported into a magical world who must contend with a prophecy revealing his origin.

ININ Games head Helmut Schmitz said in a press release “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Simon the Sorcerer Origins to the ININ family,” and that “The Simon the Sorcerer series holds a special place in the history of adventure games and has been instrumental in shaping the genre. It’s a true honor to work alongside Smallthing Studios on a title that not only pays tribute to the legacy of the original games but also invites a whole new generation of players into this magical world.”

Simon the Sorcerer: Origins features both English and German voice acting, with the original actors reprising their roles. The title also features an original soundtrack from Mason Fischer with 80’s artist Rick Astley “in a special role” according to developer Smallthing’s release.

Smallthing Studios founder Massy Calamai had this to say about the upcoming project “We are thrilled and moved to officially announce the collaboration between Smallthing Studios and fantastic ININ GAMES for the distribution of Simon the Sorcerer Origins, in all formats, over thirty years…”

Smallthing Studios aims to honor the legacy of the original Simon the Sorcerer. With the efforts put forward by this studio, fans and newcomers may have something to look forward to come this October.
