As an emerging independent developer, Dreamlit Games aspires to build incredible open-world experiences. They decided to convey this objective through their first title, which they teased in 2019. Now, more information has been revealed about Dreamlit’s debut release.
Dreamlit Games revealed their project as Towers of Aghasba during yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase livestream. Viewers were shown a brief trailer featuring a work in progress of early beta gameplay. As Dreamlit’s debut title, Towers of Aghasba is an open-world fantasy builder that challenges players to balance construction and exploration.
The game follows a young builder returning to their ancestral land of Aghasba to help rebuild their lost civilization. However, they’re opposed by the island’s desolate state and the gods of Aghasba’s wary attitude towards the return of humans.
Dreamlit Game Designer Saiprapanch Adloor explained, “They fear the destruction of the land that came with the growth of human civilization in the past. To appease the gods, you must learn to strike a balance between rebuilding your civilization and fostering Aghasba’s mystical ecosystem. Maintaining this balance creates a unique dynamic that sets Towers apart from other building games.”
Adloor highlighted the importance of ecosystems in Towers of Aghasba.
“Regrowing Aghasba’s diverse and complex ecosystems will ensure the survival of your tribe, while earning the favor of the gods. Every ecosystem attracts unique flora and fauna that will provide the resources you need to build your settlements and advance your civilization,” he stated.
Players will also need to build villages and settlements around Aghasba to support the tribe’s return. Each village contains unique items, tools, and buildings that can shape tribe development. The game also features original lore and a surreal atmosphere, which is promised to immerse players.
“Whether you’re looking for adventure, creativity, or wonderment, Towers of Aghasba promises to offer a fresh take on the building genre for all players,” Adloor commented. “We are beyond excited to introduce this gorgeous and surreal world to everyone.”
Additional information is soon to come. Towers of Aghasba is scheduled to launch Summer 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
