PlayStation Launches New ‘Live From PS5’ Ad, Possibly Teasing A New Uncharted & Ghost Of Tsushima

As you may have seen over the last few days, a new marketing ad from Sony and PlayStation has been released. Over the past two years since the release of PlayStation 5, there have been incredible games filled with extraordinary and immersive game worlds such as God of War Ragnarök, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and Returnal. The new ad also  features Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, and more kicking off the next lineup of titles set to release in the next few years. As eagle-eyed fans might have noticed, the ad may also be teasing some of the future titles for PS5.

Today, we are celebrating our PS5 community and inviting more players to join the fun with our new spot, “Live from PS5,” Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President, Brand, Hardware and Peripherals, SIE said. “The best games often make us feel as if we are being transported into amazing worlds filled with adventure, riveting action, and memorable moments. With PS5 features like high-fidelity 4K visuals, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, 3D audio and lightning-fast loading, developers are creating game worlds that feel more immersive than ever. This new spot hints at the breadth of extraordinary experiences taking place in the PS5 universe through the style of a live news channel.

While celebrating the two years and incredible experiences that have been released on PS5, the ad is also a thank you for fans waiting to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 which had been an issue since its launch due to the pandemic. “To all our fans: thank you for your patience as we navigated unprecedented demand for the PS5 console amid global challenges,” Tomatis said. Recently, PlayStation said that they have an increased supply of units.  “If you’re looking to purchase a PS5 console, you should now have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally.”

Within the ad, there are two quick clips of titles. One of these seems to be Ghost of Tsushima. As of now, a sequel hasn’t been officially announced. There were some job listing listed last year that hints that developer Sucker Punch is working on a sequel.

The other clip shows a young woman in a cave approaching some mysterious object, blowing the dust off of it. We don’t know who that is but it appears to be someone from the Uncharted franchise. The end of Uncharted 4 introduces Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher’s teenage daughter Cassie as she discovers her parent’s former life as treasure hunters. The game ends with Nate telling Cassie all about their adventures.

Based on the ad and some speculation, it seems that Cassie may be picking up the mantle and could be the protagonist of a new game.

Another Uncharted game has not been officially announced and we learned last week that Naughty Dog seems to be done with the franchise but there have been some hints that another Uncharted may be in development and that it will be led by a different developer.

Last April, Christina-Marie Drake McBrearty, a recruiter announced that she had joined Naughty Dog and may have hinted that Sony could be planning future Uncharted releases without Naughty Dog as the lead developer. She said it was special “to be building future teams for not only new titles but for the legacy of Uncharted.”

A job listing last year also revealed that a new internal development at Sony was co-developing a game with Naughty Dog based on “a beloved franchise.”
