PlayStation announced today that they will be having a Technical Presentation hosted by Lead System Architect, Mark Cerny. Many have speculated that this will finally be the time that PlayStation finally announces the PlayStation 5 Pro model. This announcement would come almost 4 years since the release of the current model and has many fans excited.
Much of this information was leaked in late August by a Twitter user going by the username @BrianThe Insider. Not only was he correct about the date of the stream, he also was extremely close to the correct runtime of the stream. Unconfirmed things he stated in his other posts are that the new system will HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, the initial cost will be set at around $550 and the deluxe version set at around $650, and DualSense controllers will have better battery life and enhanced triggers. He also states an estimated release date of November 14th, but no release year connected.
Other confirmed specs include the capability of rendering 45% faster than the current model, support for resolutions up to 8K, custom machine learning architecture, and more. You can also see a list of all the expected specs in an article we posted earlier this year here.
Tom Henderson, owner of Insider Gaming, said in a recent Tweet that the team produced the new model in 19 months. He also stated that he would be happy to post the deadlines and timeline of the systems development if enough were interested in the information.
PlayStation will be streaming on their YouTube starting at 8AM PDT tomorrow, September 10th and will run for about 9 minutes. The gaming world will surely be up early and watching with bated breath. Be sure to tune in and stay up to date!
