Today’s PlayStation 5 Showcase shared new looks at some of the console’s launch lineup including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, and more. In addition, Sony has finally revealed that PlayStation 5 launches on November 12, 2020, in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South America; and it will launch everywhere else on November 19. The PlayStation 5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive costs $499, with the PlayStation 5 All Digital Edition will cost $399. Sony says that pre-orders will be available as early as tomorrow at select retailers. You may notice on social media that some were able to pre-order today from Wal-Mart. Check with your local retailer to see if the PlayStation 5 is available to pre-order.
The showcase officially revealed Final Fantasy XVI which will be a PlayStation console exclusive but is also coming to PC. The first look at gameplay from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was shown. Hogwarts Legacy is the official title for the Harry Potter RPG that was leaked a couple of years ago. It is set to release in 2021.
A snippet of the first mission from Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War was shown. It was also revealed that PlayStation owners can try out the alpha running from September 18-20 for free. Anyone who wants to pre-load the alpha can do so starting tomorrow. A new trailer for Resident Evil Village was released. The game is set to come out in 2021. A new gameplay presentation for Deathloop was showcased, showing a look at how players can tackle assassinating targets. The game was recently delayed to Q2 2021.
Devil May Cry V: Special Edition was announced. It’s coming with a bunch of next-gen upgrades and Vergil as a new playable character. A new look at Oddworld: Soulstorm was revealed with a new trailer. Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach was announced; A gameplay trailer for the Demon’s Souls remake was released. Fortnite will be available to play on PlayStation 5 at launch. The PlayStation Plus Collection was announced. Lastly, the sequel to God of War was officially announced with a release window of 2021.
The PlayStation Plus Collection is a new offering on PlayStation 5. A list of curated PlayStation 4 games will be available to play for PlayStation 5 owners with PlayStation Plus. Games such as Batman: Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, and more will be ready to download and play on launch day. This is an added benefit to the existing PlayStation 4 benefits that PS Plus members receive.
Sony shared that as some will transition to the next-generation at different times and announced that there will be PlayStation 4 versions of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West. The digital versions of these games include a free upgrade on both PlayStation 5 consoles. The disc versions also include a free upgrade with the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.
Sony also revealed the prices for the new PlayStation 5 accessories. The Dualsense Wireless Controller costs $69.99. The Pulse 3D wireless headset – with 3d audio support and dual-noise canceling microphones is $99.99. The HD Camera – with dual 1080p lenses for gamers to broadcast themselves along with their epic gameplay moments is $59.99. The Media Remote – to navigate movies and streaming services with ease is $29.99, and the DualSense Charging Station – to conveniently charge two DualSense Wireless Controllers is $29.99.
PlayStation has also revealed PlayStation 5 launch day games from SIE Worldwide Studios include Astro’s Playroom – pre-installed on PS5, Demon’s Souls – $69.99, Destruction All Stars – $69.99, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $49.99, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition – $69.99, and Sackboy A Big Adventure – $59.99.
