Planet of Lana II is Set to Release on March 5th

Some of the best sequels to games throughout the years have found creative ways to expand on the unique aspects of the original. Planet of Lana II has just recently announced the game’s release date with an accompanying trailer, showing off some of the ways that the game has changed and the key ways that it has stayed the same. Developed by Wishfully and published by Thunderful Publishing, Planet of Lana II shows how the main character, Lana, will deal with the new challenges ahead of her following the struggle with the machines in the first game. To help with this, she is now older and more agile, tying the progression of the story into gameplay.

The new trailer has provided a lot of gameplay footage compared to the original reveal of the game. It begins by setting the stage of the world following the events of the first game. People have returned to a place of relative peace on what is described now as a “divided planet”. Lana jumps straight into the action running through a bright, vivid forest. The tranquil run is interrupted by the landing of a strange ship. When Lana enters, the gameplay section begins.

After exploring the ship, Lana dives into the ocean, showing off standard swimming, moving through the water as a fish while evading a predator, and piloting a submarine. Later in the trailer, she is also forced to duck beneath the terrain in order to avoid a drone’s laser. A similar drone is later seen being directed by the player, able to use its laser for puzzle-solving. The ending sequence shows some of the more quick-paced moments throughout the game, including traversing the top of a train or ziplining.

Planet of Lana II has shown that it has the potential to be a worthy sequel to the original game. Fans will have a chance to experience for themselves when it releases on March 5th.
