It looks like we’ll be waiting a bit longer to get our hands on the home console version of Phasmophobia. Kinetic Games has announced that the latest iteration of their popular horror/suspense title has been delayed again, moving it further back from its October 2023 release time frame, specifically during the week of Halloween. The delay is result of an unfortunate fire incident that ravaged their office and caused a plethora of information and Q&A testing to be lost as a result. The game was initially planned to launch sometime in August but was delayed due to the aforementioned fire to their office.
In addition, the studio also added that they are preparing for the PlayStation VR2 version of the title, which of course is considered part of the home console release. In order to facilitate this, Kinetic Studios has been “diligently reviewing the game’s performance and optimizing it across all maps to ensure a seamless experience for all of our console players.” They also mentioned that this caused the developer to change some of the style and layout of the Maple Lodge Campsite and was described as “time-consuming for our art team.”
Kinetic Studios states that they are doing everything possible to ensure that the home console edition of Phasmophobia launches within a certain time frame, and that it will be “it will be worth the wait.” Phasmophobia originally launched in 2020 for PC and quickly gained a huge fan following for it’s immersive gameplay and intense scariness. It was critically acclaimed and hailed as one of the best releases of 2020, winning the Best Debut Game at The Game Awards 2020. Hopefully, Kinetic Games is able to get the title out to those with home consoles before the end of the year.
