If you weren’t aware, a Persona spinoff was released recently, and it wasn’t Strikers. Persona 5: The Phantom X is free-to-play mobile RPG that originally launched in China, Taiwan, and South Korea last year. Now, developer Black Wings and publisher ATLUS have revealed that the new RPG experience that takes players beyond the world of Persona 5 with new characters, story, and gameplay will be released in the West and Japan on June 26, 2025, for PC via Steam and mobile.
ATLUS has shared more information about Persona 5: The Phantom X’s story:
“After awakening from a nightmare, the protagonist is thrust into a changed world drained of hope… And the new faces he encounters are no less strange: an eloquent owl named Lefaye, a long-nosed man and a beauty donned in blue. As he navigates the mysterious realms of the Metaverse and the Velvet Room, and grapples with ruinous visions that threaten his everyday life, he must discover what there is to take from this new world-and all in true Phantom Thief style.”
Like previous Persona titles, The Phantom X takes place in modern day Tokyo where the main character is a normal high-school student by day, and villian-fighting Phantom Thief by night. Players will experience the signature flair of the Persona series with the striking visuals and addictive moves that’ll wipe out enemies in one move, everything fans come to expect, including how you spend your time. Players can deepen their friendships, devote time to clubs, or work part-time jobs.
Shigenori Soejima and the rest of the Perona team have been helping Black Wings, supervising the creation of the new characters that inhabit the game.
To celebrate the release date announcement, the team behind the game is doing a release date announcement celebration where 10 lucky winners can get a poster set.
