Today Atlus live streamed and revealed a number of things regarding Persona 5 during their Persona 5 Premium event which was streamed via Niconico. The following is a collection of all the revelations made by Atlus during the live stream.
To begin Atlus shared the first 18 minutes of gameplay for Persona 5 uninterrupted. The footage shows the anime cut scenes, the introduction to the new Persona story, and the first combat sequence in Persona 5. The first 18 minutes of gameplay can be seen below and of course, spoiler warning.
The opening animation for Persona 5 was also shown. This animation was made by studio Production IG, known for their work on anime like Psycho Pass and the Ghost in the Shell series. The opening animation can be viewed below.
Another announcement was the inclusion of a feature known as the “Mementos Dungeon.” This adds a dungeon crawling element to the game, allowing the player to explore this vast area freely and separately from the game’s main storyline. The party all travel inside Morgana, who becomes a bus; wonder what that could be a reference to. The trailer for this can be seen below.
The trailer for the Persona 5 anime, Persona 5 the Animation: The Daybreakers was also shown. The anime special is set to air in Japan in September. The trailer for this can be seen below.
An interview with Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino, composer Shoji Meguro, and character designer Shigenori Soejima was also shown. This staff interview can be viewed below.
A series of 8 weeks worth of commercials for Person 5 will also air. The first one, focused on Persona 5’s main protagonist was shown. It can be viewed below.
A group of new characters were also revealed during the Persona 5 Premium Event. In total seven new cooperation characters were revealed. The relationships that the player builds with these characters can improve their experience as they can use all of these character’s special abilities and skills. The amount the player builds a bond with these characters is proportionate to how much they can give the player an advantage. The new characters include: Shinya Oda, Hifumi Togo, Yuki Mishima, Ichiko Oya, Toranosuke Yoshida, Chihaya Mifune, and Sadayo Kawakami. Each character name links to the individual character’s bio and trailer on Persona 5’s official site.
Other announcements included an upcoming webcomic, the Persona 5 20th Anniversary festival that will take place in Tokyo at Arts Chiyoda from December 8th to 18th, a tour of the game’s demo, and the announcement that the game will be playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
Persona 5 is due in North America for a February 14th 2017 release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Persona 5 is set to be released in Japan on September 15th, 2016. A European release date has yet to be announced.
