Penguins Of Madagascar is coming to the more family-friendly Nintendo Wii, Wii U and 3DS systems Nov. 28 of this year. This release is preceded by the movie it is based on, which bears the same name.
International Publishing studio Little Orbit entered a licensing agreement with DreamWorks Animation to have the game exclusive on Nintendo platforms. The studio lays claim to gaming installments of fellow family-themed series like How to Train Your Dragon, Winx Club, Planes and Barbie. The game will be distributed by Bandai Namco Games Europe for European and Australian regions.
The protagonist penguins, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private, form a spy team to halt the plot of world destruction by the awful octopus Dr. Octavious Brine. The penguins will execute stealthy missions in classified locations to achieve their goal. Each penguin has a special ability, such as demolitions expertise or stun-slapping (which is what is sounds). The specific penguins can be swapped out in accordance to necessity. Puzzles will be made so the specific use of a penguin is required.
President of Little Orbit, Matt Scott, spoke on the release:
Following our success with DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon 2 this summer, we are once again thrilled to work with them to bring Penguins of Madagascar to gamers later this year. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private stole the show in previous Madagascar films with their humor and crazy antics.
