The new Crimson Desert gameplay revealed during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2023 showed significant progress from its 2020 debut reveal, in 4k high-resolution gameplay. The video showcased realistic and exceptional graphical quality, highlighting many aspects of the game including the game’s open world and sprawling, vibrant cities.
The video follows the main protagonist, Kliff, investigating events that transpire in the region of “Hernand” who embarks on a journey of exploration through the vast world. Other highlights included in the reveal offered NPC and environment interactions and motion captured combat sequences that encapsulated the game’s sense of realism and enhanced gameplay.
Other aspects of the trailer involved the game’s diverse combat system, from hand-to-hand combat to wrestling moves. It also highlighted how players can use the environment’s objects against foes. The gameplay footage also saw epic boss fights and duels against large groups of enemies. The exhilarating combat sequences displayed in the gameplay footage encourages and challenges players to use creative means to take down formidable foes set in the rich open world. Also included is the implementation of skydiving, characters climbing trees and jumping over a number of obstacles presented in the open world. Not only does the game provide players with an enormous map and numerous ways of playing, but also the presence of mini-games. These mini-games take the form of fishing, arm-wrestling and taming wild horses found in the lush environment.
Developed on Pearl Abyss’s proprietary next-generation “BlackSpace Engine,” Crimson Desert is classified as an open-world adventure game. Not only does the game offer realistic characters and an engaging setting, but also the rich story of mercenaries fighting and striving to survive the expansive continent known as Pywel.
