PC Specs Revealed For Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

In just a few days, players will be able to shoot their way to reclaim America from the Nazi regime in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. The alternate history first person shooter has been demoed time and time again, and although the graphics are impressive, the PC specification requirements have not been revealed, until now. Bethesda finally released the PC specs for their upcoming game earlier in the week.

Bethesda has listed two main specifications for the game. Their minimum requirement, “Can I Play, Daddy?”, is set to run the game at 720p at 60 FPS with the following hardware:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770/AMD FX-8350 or better
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 770 4GB/AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB or better
  • RAM: 8GB
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
  • Storage: 55GB

Their recommending requirement, “I Am Death Incarnate”, is expected to run the game at 1080p at 60 FPS with this bumped up hardware:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770/AMD FX-9370 or better
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB or better
  • RAM: 16GB
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 64-Bit
  • Storage: 55GB

In addition to these hardware recommendations, there are a variety of in-game graphical options to mess around with. These options are:

  • Lights
  • Shadows
  • Directional Occlusion
  • Reflections
  • Decals
  • Motion Blur
  • Image Streaming
  • Volumetric Quality
  • Decal Filtering
  • Deferred Rendering
  • Chromatic Aberration
  • Depth of Field
  • Resolution Scaling

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will is supported by the id Tech 6 Engine, and according to executive producer, Jerk Gustafsson, it will also feature the Vulkan API (a new 3D graphics and compute auto programming interface that utilizes GPUs).

He remarks that his team “[took] full advantage of Vulkan, allowing us to push improved performance across the board in ways that simply weren’t possible before. The minimum hardware requirements are set to ensure a high-quality experience, and with Vulkan players should see solid performance on a variety of system configurations.” He also states that “if you’re aiming for 1080p with high framerate and settings, you would need to bump towards our recommended specs.”

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus hits stores on October 27th.
