PC Players Can Now Update Their DualSense Controllers Without a PlayStation 5

Sony has released special app for PC players who prefer to use the DualSense controller for their games. The company revealed that with this app, DualSense controller owners will no longer be required to own a PlayStation 5 in order to update the firmware. Instead, all they’ll have to do is download the app on a Windows PC that has 10 and 11 operating systems. They can then connect the controller with a USB cable to recieve the updates. This is especially useful as it’s still fairly difficult to acquire a PlayStation 5 in general, and gives the DualSense much wider accessibility and a much wider audience.

For those who don’t know, the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller is fitted with special software that utilizes the haptic feedback feature for certain games on the system. It’s also an excellent wireless controller in general, and is slowly turning into a favorite of the PC community. The controller is purchasable by itself, although the console does come with one already, for those who wished to either use it for other purposes or to have a second controller for their PlayStation 5 in order to play multiplayer in the same room.

Sony has been slowly making the DualSense more accessible for owners since last year when they implemented the ability to manually update the controller on the PlayStation 5 as opposed to an automatic one. The controller made quite the buzz in the industry when it was first revealed and then was later praised for being innovative when immersing players in their respective games. Now it’s becoming one of the main choices for PC gamers to play titles on their setup.
