PAX West is coming back live and in person! Last week, PAX, the popular gaming convention, announced that their PAX West convention would be an in-person event hosted at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA. After converting PAX West to an online event last year due to the global pandemic, this year’s return to a physical event provides a chance for fans of video games to get a sliver of their pre-COVID lives back. However, fans were concerned about the COVID-19 precaution measures, or lack thereof, announced for the in-person event when it was first confirmed.
We’re pleased to announce that, in line with the recommendations of state and local public health authorities, we will be implementing a vaccination or negative COVID-19 test requirement for everyone at #PAXWest. Read the full update at: https://t.co/1ZtYPOCQeI pic.twitter.com/hZJkFeRngR

To address this concern, on July 27th, the PAX West team at Penny Arcade and ReedPop released a statement explaining the new COVID-19 precautions that will be put into place for their live event. Those who wish to attend the PAX West 2021 in-person event will now have to provide proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
“We are pleased to announce that, in line with the recommendations of state and local public health authorities, we will be implementing a vaccination or negative COVID-19 test requirement for everyone at PAX West.”
Several other precautions have already been incorporated into the event. All guests will be required to wear face coverings at all times (yes, even cosplayers) and PAX West 2021 will have reduced capacity to further increase the safety of the event. The convention center will also be sanitized regularly and filled with directional markings and signs to ensure guests follow safety protocols.
While PAX West has not released a list of all their events as of yet, both regular attendees and newcomers alike have a lot to look forward to, even with all of the COVID-19 precautions. PAX West 2021 will take place from September 3rd to September 6th in Seattle, WA. A four-day pass will cost 230.00 USD, and a one-day pass for any of the available days will cost 60.00 USD. Passes are on sale now, and you can use this link to get yours today! And if you have any concerns about the safety requirements or about purchasing your ticket, you can reach out to the PAX West team.
“If you have purchased badges and have questions or concerns about this requirement, please reach out to PAX Questions at PAX_Questions@PAXsite.com.”
So get your best gear, grab your favorite face mask, and enjoy the festivities at the in-person PAX West 2021! Safely, of course.
