The developer behind Kirby and the Boxboy series, HAL Laboratory, has just released their first mobile game called Part Time UFO. This game was initially released in Japan last November as Hataraku UFO, and is finally available internationally on Android or iOS devices. If playing on Android, Google Play Games Services is currently supported within the inclusion of the achievement system, allowing users to individually manage the game’s unique services.
Players adopt the role of an anthropomorphic flying saucer that comes with an extendable claw that has just crash-landed on Earth. This UFO begins an adventure through partaking in a flurry of bizarre day jobs that assist the denizens of Earth. The gameplay consists of the saucer using its claw to catch resources like fish, assemble pyramids, load cargo onto trucks, and a slew of other tasks relevant for day jobs. Players will be rewarded with money after completing jobs and tasks that can be used to purchase costumes for their flying saucer.
Part Time UFO consists of 27 different levels, and offers more than 20 viable costumes. Additional jobs will be unlocked after completing achievements that are hidden within each level. This urges players to approach each level at multiple angles, and ensure they traverse it entirely as each hidden achievement is different from the last. This grants players with autonomy, and promotes a degree of difficultly. Players are encouraged to participate in the discourse regarding gameplay and level design online through using the social media tools integrated within the sharing function of the game.
The fully translated Part Time UFO is available on Android and iOS devices for $3.99
