One of the newest additions to the Pokémon universe, Pokémon Pokopia, recently launched a major DLC on August 5. This DLC is called Bubbly Basin, and is the first of three parts to the game’s paid expansion pass. It features “additional furniture items, a new outfit for Ditto, and more Pokémon to meet.” Full gameplay can take an upwards of four hours, though some YouTubers have managed to complete Bubbly Basin in under three hours, as of today.
Released alongside Pokémon Pokopia’s 2.0.0 update, players must utilize new mechanics in order to access the Bubbly Basin area. Since Bubbly Basin is an aquatic biome, players must “use the move Dive—an underwater exploration ability added in a free software update to Pokémon Pokopia—to visit the aquatic area of Bubbly Basin.” After learning to Dive, players must then “complete the important request ‘Raise the environment level!’ in [the] Bleak Beach” area of Pokopia.
Once players complete the required tasks, the gates to Bubbly Basin open up to them, allowing them to explore everything the DLC has to offer. This exploration includes some guided objectives, however. Upon arrival, players are instructed by Popplio to help him by “raising the environment level by three.” The second request is from Professor Tangrowth, who asks players to find, and subsequently rebuild, Bubbly Basin’s Pokémon Center.
While completing these objectives, players are able to meet fifty new Pokémon, each native to areas across thirty six different aquatic habitats. Two of which are special encounters: Phione and Manaphy. Listed at the end of this article is a fill index of each new Pokémon encounter, though seasoned Pokémon fans may recognize a portion of these names. This is because these Pokémon are only new to Pokopia, not the full Pokémon franchise.
Pokémon Pokopia was released early this past March as a title exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. Bubbly Basin is the first paid expansion pass release, with the other two updates coming in late 2026 and sometime in 2027, respectively. Both of these are currently unnamed, though it has been officially confirmed that Part two will be an “Accessories debut,” while Part three will include another new town.
