Paladins New Sun & Moon Update Introduces New Support Character, Shore Patrol Battle Pass Launches Today

PlayStation recently posted an update to their Twitter page regarding Paladins: Champions of the Realm, and the addition of their newest champion: Io, the Shattered Goddess. If you’ve played through the Shattered Dessert or Siege maps, you may have already caught a glimpse of Io or her spirit fox, Luna. Well, the wait is over. This moon goddess became available today, along with the new Sun & Moon update for the game.

Quick backstory. The moon goddess is said to have kept close watch over the Realm. When the Darkness struck, the moon was shattered and its pieces fell upon the Shattered Desert below it. Hearing the prayers of her people, and after watching the Magistrate attempt to harness the power of the moon shards, Io finally revealed herself and joined the war.

Io is a supporting character who uses a magical Light Bow which can fire crescent arrows. She can also use the mystical powers for the moon itself by utilizing Moonlight to heal her allies, as well as altering the gravitational force of her surrounding and spelling doom for any nearby enemies. However, according to an update made to the PlayStation.Blog site, the majority of Io’s gameplay will focus on her pet spirit fox, Luna, who “will fight alongside you, rushing towards the foes you target and stunning them. Depending on how you play with Paladins‘ Talent System, Luna can also heal your allies or provide Io a second life.”

Evil Mojo Games, the developers for Paladins: Champions of the Realm, released a video introducing Io with a short breakdown of her skills and abilities. If you have not yet, you can take a look at the video below.

Along with a new support character, the team also launched Shore Patrol Battle Pass in the update. Receive the Shore Patrol Kinessa Skin simply for purchasing the pass for 600 Crystals, and earn over 100 additional rewards just from playing and leveling up your pass. For a full list of rewards by level, visit the Paladins website. The Shore Patrol Battle Pass will be available for purchase through September 2019.
