Owlcat Games’ Isometric RPG Pathfinder: Kingmaker Has Launched

Pathfinder: Kingmaker, the isometric RPG set in the tabletop Pathfinder‘s default land of Golarion, has launched as of September 25. Developed by Owlcat Games, Pathfinder: Kingmaker takes players on a journey through the Stolen Land, as they rise from simple means to rule over a kingdom.

Within Kingmaker, “characters will face fearsome beasts, meet lifelong companions, and build their own kingdoms as a deep and engaging story unfolds around them.” Players will be able to recruit party members whose alignments and goals suit their own style, and make decisions that shape the development of their own capital city. In addition, the game features elements both new and old, bringing players to places (and people) known from the pen-and-paper franchise while also introducing previously unknown pieces to the story.

“Making Pathfinder: Kingmaker has been the most incredible journey,” said Oleg Shpilchevsky, Head of Owlcat Games. “As a team we have lived this game, poured our passion, energy and personalities into it.” Upon launch, Owlcat also issued a launch trailer for the game, which you can watch below:

If the promise of customization and character creation is more your thing, Owlcat also recently came out with a trailer for that. The video shows off a number of options players will have in Kingmaker‘s character creation, including character classes, races, stats and portraits. Watch that video below:

Paizo Publishing (which publishes the Pathfinder campaigns and rulebooks) also issued a statement about the release of Kingmaker. “We’re thrilled to see Pathfinder’s world of Golarion so vividly realized by the team at Owlcat,” said Paizo Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Erik Mona. “Pathfinder: Kingmaker brings one of Pathfinder’s most exciting epic adventures to computers everywhere, leaping from the tabletop to the computer and bringing the exciting environments and canny creatures of Kingmaker to life on the computer screen.”

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is available to play now for both Mac and PC on Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store.

In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
