PHYSINT’s Development Moves From PlayStation To XBOX; New Collaboration To Extend Across Film & Television

Alongside OD, Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions are also working on PHYSINT, an all-new title that will redefine the action-espionage genre for players around the world. The game was originally revealed as a collboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment but that is no longer the case. All parties, PlayStation, Hideo Kojima/Kojima Productions, and XBOX have confirmed that development will continue under XBOX.

PlayStation went to social media to confirm that they are indeed stepping away from its collaboration with Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions

Kojima also released a statement on social media giving more background as to why this happened. As it turns out, according to Kojima, PlayStation Studios sent over a notice about canceling the PHYSINT project. Kojima did not want the game to die so he has been spending the last three months looking for a new partner.

Team XBOX also released a statement on the news:

“Creators have choices about where and how they bring their ideas to life. We’re honored that Kojima-san has chosen XBOX to work with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on PHYSINT. His ambition to challenge conventions reflects the kind of creativity we want to support at XBOX,” said Asha Sharma, XBOX CEO.

“This expands our relationship with XBOX beyond OD. As we move forward with the development of PHYSINT, we remain committed to redefining the action-espionage genre for players around the world,” said Hideo Kojima, Game Creator and Founder of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS.

XBOX and Kojima Productions have also noted that this relationship isn’t just about the games. They will be collaborating across film and television to bring new stories to broader audiences
