Overwatch Shows Off New Cosmetics for Storm Rising Event

Since the recent announcement of the upcoming Overwatch Storm Rising event, the official Overwatch Twitter has been alive with all sorts of lore and cosmetics. Namely, revealing more about where it might be, and who’s going to look good while fighting in the PvE event.

The first thing that had shown up had actually appeared before the video announcement of the event. That being a local newspaper clipping for the Havana Sun about how Havana’s rich heritage is changing, and what is threatening it. The threat is an unknown company who wants to buy a family-run rum distillery, and when the current owner denied the money the rum shipments began to disappear, causing the owner to sell. The label was changed, the recipe was changed, and it was no longer a family run place. But the Don Rumbotico distillery wasn’t the only thing that became unrecognizable when it was bought out by this mysterious company. The Havana Sea Fort was also bought out, and changed to no longer be recognizable. At the very end, it talks about an intense hurricane coming…

The article goes into the lore surrounding Havana, and then the announcement tweet point a finger at one Maximilien. And then, the target is found:

With a confirmation that the long fan-requested character, Maximilien, is joining as not a playable character but a target for the players in the upcoming event there’s still a few questions left: Will the Storm Rising take place in Havana, Cuba? Will there be a new map being added in with this event? And will Maximilien be joining as a playable character after this?

With the lore and questions still hovering over everyone’s minds, Overwatch has already started revealing the new cosmetics coming with the event. First up is Baptiste:

Baptiste is Overwatch’s newest character, and had sported this Talon gear in his origin story video, before he turned on them. With previous Talon member’s having received a cosmetic for the evil force, it only made sense for the bad-turned-good character to get his black and red too.

Next up is Junkrat:

Coming from the XBox twitter, Junkrat is transforming into many people’s’ nightmares as a circus clown. The bright pink nose, the painted smile, and something that suits him quite well. And something that will probably haunt my nightmares.

And most recently, Moira:

Moira’s outfit is also a call back to her own origin story, having seen this look in that video. The one time it was seen was when she had been doing testing on one young Gabriel Reyes, or Reaper. This will be the second lore skin that Moira gets, the previous being last years’ Blackwatch skin.

As of so far, those are the only confirmed skins. But given Overwatch’s line-up of events, they’ll keep revealing more skins all the way up until the drop date of the Archive event. Storm Rising will be out on April 16 and run until May 6.
