Overwatch Hero 31, Sigma, Officially Revealed

After being teased, and semi-leaked, last weekOverwatch has finally revealed to the world the long-awaited Hero 31. The newest addition to the growing lineup will be Sigma, who appears to be part of Talon, though maybe not through his own free will. Sigma’s origin story has also been posted in a video, which you can check out below.

Sigma, an “eccentric astrophysicist” was determined to unlock the secrets of gravity and the universe. He had spent decades researching how to harness the power of a black hole before an experiment gone wrong left him a little out of his mind, hearing phantom melodies and seemingly wrestling with his own psyche. To top it all off, he may be in the hands of Talon as well, though it is unclear whether or not he was a part of the organization before the accident.

As of now, it is unknown exactly what Sigma’s abilities will be in the game, but one can assume it has something to do with gravity manipulation. “Gravity is a harness. I have harnessed the harness,” says Sigma in the origin story video. In the last shot of the video, Sigma appears in a suit of battle armor, holding a pair of blue floating orbs, which may be another key to his ability loadout. He is also surrounded by members of Talon, including Moira, Sombra, Widowmaker, Doomfist, and Reaper. While it appears that some part of Sigma’s personality is still sane, albeit tortured by his newfound knowledge, another is inherently corrupt. This alter-ego is consumed with thoughts of violence and power, the makings of what is sure to be a formidable foe for the members of Overwatch.

Currently, there has been no announcement made as to when Sigma will make his appearance in the Public Test Region, or the live servers. However, with the reveal, it’s safe to assume it won’t be too long until we can get a first-hand look at what this guy is all about, and the destruction he can cause.
