Developers The Dreamerians Show Off First Look at A Rat’s Quest, Coming Out in 2021

Tragic romances has been a genre that’s been around for a while. It became mostly popularized back when the romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet hit the stage back in 1597. And since then, there have been countless renditions of it. Even as far as garden gnomes being the sake of the characters surrounding the single pun. But the story still stands as it’s a classic and timeless tale. So why not make it about a rat and a mouse. And make it a little more heartfelt, but all about the love between one rat and saving his girlfriend mouse in A Rat’s Quest:

Developed by The Dreamerians, A Rat’s Quest tells the Romeo and Juliet tale between the protagonist and player character, Mat the rat, on his quest to save his girlfriend Nat the mouse. During their time together, their love was forbidden as rats and mice don’t mix in this world, and Nat was kidnapped and being held as a pet. Taking on the role of Mat, players need to navigate a large house in hopes of finding Nat (and escape to the outside world after) while also avoiding many dangers, including “THE CLAW”. Which could either be a type of cat, or a person’s hand, or some type of trap to stop you from skittering around anymore.

The game is set up in several ways, taking on the appearance of different styles, and switching between them based upon the section of the quest that Mat is on. It can range from a 3D platformer, to a 2D side scroller, to an over-the-top adventure. Mat can crawl, slither and sneak throughout this gargantuan world, and use some combat as a last resort. He’s pacing a rivet, and a sack full of all sorts of gadgets that can either help him explore, advance, or attack.

Currently, A Rat’s Quest is only in development, this trailer being the first look at the game. It’s set to come out for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but not until 2021. The game has a long way to go, but so far it seems promising.
