The newest Overwatch 2 hero has been revealed today. Apart of the new season 6, titled Invasion, a support hero named Illari will be joining the roster. Illari who hails from Peru, uses a solar-powered gun blade to both heal teammates and damage enemies, providing an equal balance of power like that of hero Kiriko and Moira. Illaria will become available August 10th.
While her abilities haven’t been provided in detail from Blizzard yet, a trailer shows some of what players can expect. Illari uses her gun to damage opponents, a healing turret that sticks to walls, and her ultimate Captive Sun, which launches her high into the air and unleashes a grenade of sun energy.
Along with Illari’s reveal, came the larger trailer for Season 6 Invasion, which brings a slew of new content. There are three new PvE story missions, Resistance, Liberation, and Ironclad. A new PvP mode, Flashpoint is also making its debut, where control points will be randomized. Two new maps, Suravasa and New Junk City will also be coming in the Invasion update.

One other update coming to Invasion that’s been anticipated since Overwatch 2 was first announced, is Hero Mastery mode. The Mastery mode tests players’ skills with each individual hero, and ranks them up to a global leaderboard. Originally, Hero Mastery was intended to coincide with Hero’s skills to level up, however, that has been entirely scrapped. The Hero Mastery mode also provides new players a resource to improve each Hero’s abilities.
Beyond that is the usual formula of new seasonal updates for the online service title. A new battle pass brings themed specific cosmetics. Overwatch 2 Anniversary Event also begins September 19th.
Overwatch 2 Invasion will come to players August 10th.
