Overkill’s The Walking Dead Gets a Fourth and Final Character Reveal Trailer

If you’ve been following Overkill and Starbreeze Studios’ four-player co-op, each of its playable characters has been given a short cinematic reveal over the last few months. Previously we’ve been able to meet the game’s other three fighters, Aiden, Maya, and Grant. Now the game’s final playable character has been given a name, trailer, and vague backstory to match the face: a hardened survivor named Heather is Overkill’s The Walking Dead‘s fourth combatant.

While the other reveals give a pretty good idea of what each character’s special abilities in team combat might be, Heather’s are more of a mystery. Aiden’s trailer depicts him as the group’s bruiser, swinging a baseball bat at zombies. Maya appears to be a nurse in her past life, and likely occupies a healer’s position in the post-apocalypse. Grant, finally, is shown to be a sniper in his trailer. The description in Heather’s reveal video, meanwhile, describes her as “a hardened scout who rounds out your squad.” She’s wielding a shotgun (and some killer hand-to-hand combat moves) in her trailer, and has the ability to unflinchingly deal with her enemies. Beyond that, her special scouting abilities may be revealed later on.

Heather’s description gives a bit of insight into her history as well. “A kindergarten teacher in her old life, Heather has had to learn the hard way that the difference between right and wrong isn’t so clear in a world where humanity struggles to survive against the undead,” reads the synopsis. The trailer certainly portrays this; in a way, this cinematic is more brutal than the other three as it shows Heather tangling with not zombies, but living raiders. Anyone who has read The Walking Dead‘s comics or watched its television adaptation knows the worst enemies are always living people, not the dead, and this trailer keeps to that idea.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead will launch for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC in late 2018.

In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
