Outlast II Delayed

Outlast II, the sequel to the smash hit Outlast from developer Red Barrels, was a smash hit at E3 this year, with plenty of scares that guarantee it’ll easily live up to its predecessor. In a bit of a hiccup, however, Red Barrels has decided to delay the game’s launch by at least a few months.

Originally slated for release in October of this year, Outlast II has been delayed to Q1 of 2017. In post on Facebook, Red Barrels explained that the decision was a difficult one, but an essential choice in order to ensure “the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible.”

Game delays are always a bummer, but it’s a good sign when a developer acknowledges it’s better to release a completed game late than an incomplete game on time, and Red Barrels did recognize this in their statement.

This is not the type of news we ever want to deliver, but we are so fully committed to the world we’ve built and to our awesome community that we could not, in good conscience, release a game who’s limits haven’t been tested to the extreme.

Outlast II will now drop in the first few months of 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
