Outer Wilds will be Released on the PS4 October 15th

The newest Sci-Fi space exploration game is heading to PS4 very soon. Outer Wilds, which was a crowdfunding project recently released for PC via the Epic Games Store and for the Xbox One brings a whole new twist to searching a solar system filled with mystery. PS4 users that have been missing out on the well-received title will be able to search for clues in the mysterious solar system on October 15th. But make haste, because in this game, you will be stuck in a 22-minute loop filled with catastrophe only to begin where you started with the memories of your past life.

Outer Wilds is a space exploration title but undoubtedly brings its own zest to the genre. Creators Mobius Digital explains it as such, “When we initially set out to make Outer Wilds, our goal was to design a game where the player could explore vast and terrifying systems without being led around by quest markers. We drop the player into a world that doesn’t revolve around them; it is a solar system that doesn’t care if the player is there or not. The vast array of bodies surrounding the sun will orbit and change over time, and it is up to the player to decide when, where, and why they want to explore the mysteries hidden within each planet, moon, and space station.” There is a lot to explore in Outer Wilds and very little time to do it, because every 22 minutes the sun will enter a supernova state and you will essentially start over.

Fortunately, all will not really be lost, as you will retain your memories from your past life. The special part of the time loop is the grand scale of things that are happening in the time frame. Whether you are there or not, every second the landscapes and inhabitants of the solar system are undergoing cataclysmic events because of the upcoming supernova. It will take a lot of time and deaths to figure out the mystery behind the time loop and explore all the solar systems during different time frames.

Outer Wilds is available now for Xbox One and PC. For those who have been waiting to play the unique space exploration title, October 15th is just around the corner so you can begin solving the mysteries of Outer Wild’s solar system.

Nathan Arquiette: Mom and Dad would never buy me a gaming console growing up, so I bought my own Dreamcast when I was 10 years old. Ever since then my passion for gaming went wild. Why watch a movie or read a book when you can take part in the plot playing a game was my philosophy. "Video games rot your brain" but I had a 10th grade reading level in the 6th grade all thanks to RPG's. Talking and writing about games is something I will never get tired of.
