OpTic Gaming Named Champions Again in The Gears Pro Circuit

The Gears Pro Circuit is continuing its second strong year of competition and teams have just finished battling for the title at the San Diego Grand Open. More than forty teams competed, but OpTic Gaming stood atop the rest as champions when the smoke cleared, achieving a glamorous prize of $100,000. OpTic has repeatedly shown their domination in the league, making this their ninth Gears Pro Circuit championship in the eleven tournaments they have participated in. This kind of dominance may just earn OpTic the claim as one of the greatest Esports teams of all time. Though, the roster behind Ghost Gaming has faced OpTic in several matches now and has been no small obstacle for the champs.

The Gears Pro Circuit pits teams against each other of all skill levels in Gears of War 4 player versus player modes. The current season is scheduled to extend until this December and it was estimated that players would be fighting for a $2,000,000 prize pool throughout the entire season. Fans of these contests are able to buy tickets for live events or watch through streaming services like Twitch or Mixer. The Gears circuit’s staff even rewards Xbox Live members that sign-in to the streams with their Gamertag with entries to win great prizes like an Xbox One console, controllers, Funko Pop characters, or in-game skins to support players’ favorite teams.

The Gears Pro Circuit’s lengthy season is measured in Gears Pro Points that are accumulated “by playing in regional MLG GameBattles, online ladders [which are free to play], weekly online tournaments, and live LAN events around the world.” Players can only earn these points in one region depending on where they reside. The league tours in many countries inside of North America, Latin America, Europe, and the Asian Pacific. Individuals and teams that wish to participate in online or live events, can read about the appropriate steps to take on the Gears of War Esports page.

The cover based third-person shooter title is slated to move along with the North American circuit to Columbus, Ohio next month and finish off the season in December. Additionally, The Coalition is expected to release Gears 5 in 2019 for the Xbox One, which should invigorate this Esports community for the next season.
