There weren’t many surprises during Opening Night Live this year, which is something that was known as Geoff Keighley made it clear that the show would focus more on updates. There was one surprise, however, with the official reveal and announcement of Little Nightmares III. The game is set to be released in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Little Nightmares III is being developed this time by Supermassive Games and the sequel takes players back to a dark and unsettling world where terrifying creatures and deadly challenges await at every corner. The game follows the journey of Low and Alone, two friends looking for a way to escape the Nowhere – a whimsical and nightmarish world.
Each character has a unique iconic item that they can use – a bow and arrow for Low and a wrench for Alone. They will use these items to help in their journey with some of the signature elements that Little Nightmares is known for, from clever puzzles and dangerous threats to memorable creatures. The sequel also adds teamwork as a new element. For the first time in the series, players will be able to face their childhood fears with a friend, as the game can be playable in two-player online co-0p. Players can also play the game in single-player as well with AI controlling the second character.
Also announced today is a new 6-episode podcast telling an original story within the Little Nightmares universe. The Sounds of Nightmare follows the story of Noone, a young girl who is committed to the Counties Psychiatric Institute to deal with her ever-worsening nightmares. She is under the care of Otto, the Counsellor, a man who dedicated his life to helping children. As their sessions unfold across the episodes, Otto’s past and Noone’s nightmares seem destined to collide. The first two episodes are available now.
