One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Announced by KOEI

Yesterday, the very active folks over at Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is on its way. The last installment, Pirate Warriors 3, was released back in 2015 and fans of the famous anime are ready for the next chapter in this gaming series. That’s the case especially for gamers in the United States who weren’t able to get their hands on the third game until 2018. From the short look that we get at the fourth title, the developers at Koei Tecmo Games are bringing more to the table with another entertaining story with fan favorites from the franchise. Check out the first look here:

In Pirate Warriors 4 players will be give “a more explosive story, more environments and even crazier attacks.” It looks like we’ll be going along for the ride with characters from the Straw Hats and Luffy across multiple islands with the glorious goal in mind of finding the One Piece. Many areas and foes discovered in these travels will be familiar as players will be able to choose from several favorite characters throughout some of the most memorable moments from the long-running show.

The unique aspect of the Pirate Warriors titles is that they are extreme mashups with the Dynasty Warriors series, which has been around since all the way in 1997. Koei no doubt hopes that this latest Pirate Warriors is a hit since Dynasty Warriors 9 didn’t seem to hit the mark with the critics and fans. The mixture of hack and slash alongside the over-the-top, flashy One Piece characters and move sets may be exactly what they need. Especially, with Pirate Warriors 4 releasing immediately in the U.S.

While One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has no exact release date, but Koei is planning for a 2020 launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC through the Steam Store.
