Starting on July 9th through July 30th, Starry Studio will celebrate Once Human‘s second anniversary with their commemorative celebration “Dreamy Maelstrom.” The event features new gameplay, time-limited Deviations, an anniversary check-in, a warm-up phase, and loads more content for players to enjoy. The warm-up phase began July 1st and will continue until the anniversary start date.
In the warm-up phase, players can participate by logging in to the Once Human official website and selecting a character. Once a character has been selected, it cannot be changed. Players will be able to participate in daily draws and earn anniversary-exclusive rewards, including “A Birthday” namecard and theme, Stardust Secret Crates, and the unique “Crimson Insight” ZapCam companion.
The core gameplay of the event is called Dreamy Rift, which has a basic and hard difficulty level. Hard mode amplifies the combat by adding environmental challenges. This includes thick fog, meteors, and black rain that players must survive while facing Deviant tides. Players who manage to complete the hard difficulty of Dreamy Rift will unlock an endless mode to further test their skills.
Dreamy Rift can be played solo or with up to four players. Every two stages cleared allows players to select one out of three drawn Mods options. They can continuously stack Deviant energy and have a change to draw an Overclock mod, which enhances a player’s weapon with effects like instant-kill on low health and omnidirectional sharpnel. Rewards include Armor Mod Crates, Wish Wheel tickets, Mod Dust, and Starchom.
The main anniversary event also includes three anniversary-limited companions. Along with the “Crimson Insight” Zapcam, players also have a chance to collect the “Mr. Wish” Penguin Hope and the “Behemoth.” Both can be obtained through anniversary events. However, Mr. Wish can also be collected in the RaidZone Mode. Meanwhile, the Behemoth is making its first debut in the game. Players can earn this new Deviant in wilderness gameplay as well.
