Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game Coming this Summer

As we are all aware, the recent coronavirus pandemic has canceled or delayed hundreds of events over the past year from E3 to Comic-Con. The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo was not an exception. The only Olympics that took place in 2020 included Sonic and Mario in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Now, video game publisher Sega has announced that their official 2020 Olympic game is a few months away from releasing outside of Japan, right in time for the Olympics to return in the summer of 2021. However, even with the Olympics technically occurring in 2021, 2020 will be staying in the title.

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game will be similar to the real Olympic events. It contains eighteen different events that can either be competed in by yourself in solo mode or with friends through multiplayer. The multiplayer mode includes 8-player matches and ranked games with a global leaderboard for really competitive players to compete in. Players will be able to represent over eighty nations in the game. In addition to picking which nation to represent, players will be able to customize their avatar with a wide range of wacky costumes like an astronaut outfit or a Sonic the Hedgehog suit. The eighteen events available to compete in are the 100m, 4x100m Relay, 110m hurdles, hammer throw, long jump, basketball, baseball, beach volleyball, cycling, boxing, judo, rugby sevens, soccer, 100m freestyle, 200m individual medley, sport climbing, table tennis, and tennis.

Of course, there is always the possibility that we will not be seeing an in-person Olympics this year, but at least we will have the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game to digitally experience Olympic joy. Players will be able to play Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game on June 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
