The upcoming cyberpunk platformer The Last Night from Odd Tales is in a little bit of unspecified trouble. According to a tweet by the founder of Odd Tales, Tim Soret, the studio has encountered “massive business, legal & funding issues we can’t talk about.” The tweet, which went out from Soret’s personal account yesterday, detailed both the highs and lows of the year in regards to the game.
The game was debuted at E3 in 2017 and was slated to make another appearance at The Game Awards this year, but due to the unspecified issues, had to back out. The game didn’t make the biggest splash at E3, being overshadowed by bunch of games that would turn into hits upon release. However, the game garnered a following after the reveal trailer dropped (which you can check out below) and has been wishlisted 156,000 times on Steam according to Soret. Initially, Soret and his team at Odd Tales envisioned a 2018 release date, but now Steam shows the date as TBA.
Now as a result of the financial woes, Soret is asking potential investors to give him a shout, with the hopes of getting the game back on track. In the meantime, interested players can get a sense of what the full game entails by playing a short preview/demo which won first place at Cyberpunk Game Jam in 2014. The demo, which was completed in just 6 days by Tim and Adrian Soret, can be played right in your browser. While the full game is sure to be much more detailed and complete than the short for Cyberpunk Jam, it is unclear just how long of a wait it’ll be for the game’s full release.
