Square Enix has revealed that both OCTOPATH TRAVELER and OCTOPATH TRAVELER II are available for purchase on PlayStation and Xbox, making the complete series available on all current consoles and PC for the first time. The PlayStation Store has added OCTOPATH TRAVELER for PS4 and PS5, and the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One have now added OCTOPATH TRAVELER II. Previously, Xbox only had OCTOPATH TRAVELER available for purchase, and PlayStation only had OCTOPATH TRAVELER II, meaning that (before now) fans of either console couldn’t play the series in full on their system of choice.
Team Asano, the developers of the OCTOPATH TRAVELER Series, have given players a free update to OCTOPATH TRAVELER II featuring a new “Extra Battle” mode to celebrate the series’ release on to new consoles. In this new update to the “HD-2D” party-based RPG (originally released in 2023 for PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC) players will be able to face off against tough new opponents, including the main characters of OCTOPATH TRAVELER, after completing the final chapter of the story. The free update is available right now on all platforms, and the Xbox’s launch edition includes the new content already.
Square Enix also revealed that both OCTOPATH TRAVELER games have been added to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, and are available for download effective immediately. Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers can purchase the first OCTOPATH TRAVELER game for 34% off from now until June 20, 2024. The turn-based RPG series of OCTOPATH TRAVELER games has seen a long road of ports and console releases since the series debuted, with the first game originally launching as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2018. The series has since sold over 4 million copies worldwide, and as of today, both OCTOPATH TRAVELER titles are available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Steam.
