Obsidian Teasing New Game Announcement for The Game Awards

With this year’s iteration of The Game Awards a little over a week away, Obsidian Entertainment is now teasing the  announcement of a new game for the event. The company took to Twitter today tweeting out about certain ads that appear on the company’s official website. The two ads that appear advertise “Spacer’s Choice” and “Auntie Cleo’s” both with the phrase, “Stay tuned for a special message” with a live countdown clock going until The Game Awards on December 6. The Game Awards host and creator, Geoff Keighley, would later take to Twitter to confirm the news.

While it was recently announced that Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft, this new game will not be Microsoft published title. Instead, this game will be published by Take-Two Interactive through their indie label Private Division. This is due to an agreement being signed before Microsoft’s acquisition of the company. This new game is set to be a completely new RPG, and the development has also been stated to be lead by Fallout series co-creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky.

It has already been confirmed that The Game Awards this year will have over ten new game announcements. It is now known that Obsidian’s new game will be one of them. There are also hints that Alien: Blackout, new video game set in the iconic franchise, is set to be announced at the event as well. Also, there is speculation that Rocksteady’s long rumored Superman game could be revealed at the show. With a little over a week to go until The Game Awards, fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out.

Zachary Dalton: I have a major passion for video games, the stories they tell, and writing about them. Avid believer that video games present the best storytelling opportunities out of any media, and that needs to be conveyed. Former competitive Pokemon player. Attended university to study game development. Wouldn't be who I am today without games.
