No Cross Saves for Destiny 2

Destiny, the wildly popular online-only multiplayer first-person shooter of 2014, is finally getting a sequel, and that sequel will also be coming to PC. Since the original game was a console-only experience, PC gamers are rejoicing at the opportunity to finally join Bungie’s newest shooter bandwagon. According to an article on USgamer, Bungie revealed some more details on Thursday about the upcoming sequel. While PC gamers do get to look forward to some great PC-centric features, there’s one surprising detail that some gamers aren’t too happy about: no cross saving between PCs and consoles.

This means if PC gamers start playing Destiny 2 on their PCs and then later want to play with their PS4 or Xbox One friends, they’ll have to start another game on that console or give up entirely. This was confirmed by Destiny 2’s art director Mike Zak who, when asked if players would be forever locked into the platform they start out on, replied, “Yeah.”

Zak then decided to say more:

Hopefully, you’re going to find a platform where you’ve got friends and stick to that one. If you don’t, you can use our new Guided Games system for clans to make new friends.

Looks like fans of the multiplayer shooter will have to make a tough decision once the game is released. Obviously, the main deciding factor will be which platform you and your friends most often play on. But if you’re going off platform-exclusive features, the PC wins by a landslide. The PC version of Destiny 2 will feature custom keymapping, 4K and ultrawide resolution support, and the ability to adjust the field of view, just to name a few exclusive features.

Destiny 2 will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 8, 2017. Still no word on the PC release date.
