Gamers were first introduced to Lillet Blan, the main character for the side-scroller real-time strategy game GrimGrimoire. The sorcery-themed real-time strategy game made its way to the PlayStation 2. It was first released back in 2007. The game was developed by Vanillaware and published by Nippon Ichi Software. 17 years later, the game was remastered and renamed GrimGrimoire OnceMore. It was released on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 but was only available in Japan, until now. Nippon Ichi Software has announced that they will be doing a global release of the game.
The game takes players to the magic school called Silver Star Tower. Three magicians in the tower combined their magics to craft the powerful philosopher’s stone. But greed came over the magicians and one of the creators, Lujie overcome by regret and resentment became a ghost and she came to haunt the tower. With a legion of monsters, Lujie’s ghost wreaks havoc in the school. Set in a 5-day cycle that repeats, players will learn more about the events that happened that led up to the attack on the tower.
The combat system works by summoning mobs. Players need mana crystals in order to create runes. These runes are what is used for summoning familiars, the mobs Lillet summons do the fighting. Familiars have four different schools of magic, glamour, sorcery, necromancy, and alchemy. This allows familiars to have separate functions. One type of familiar will be tasked with gathering mana so players can keep their mana level sufficient. Familiars are also used in combat. They are the ones who will be doing the fighting in the game. Players will have to strategically summon how many familiars they want and where to place them to fight their way through the tower. GrimGrimoire OnceMore is scheduled to be released globally on April 4, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
