Nintendo Switch UI Revealed

According to an article on IGN, Nintendo has recently revealed some specifics about the Switch’s user interface. Nintendo’s United Kingdom site has given details about the Switch’s hardware. These details include the positions of all the buttons on the Joy-Con controller, locations of USB ports, headphone jack, etc. Scroll down a bit and it’ll show you the three ways to play the Switch, as seen in the console’s trailer; on a TV, as a handheld device and tabletop mode. Scroll down further and you’ll see the Switch’s UI.

The most apparent feature of this interface is the game section, where the player can manage or select their games. Games viewable in this section include games that have been downloaded to the system as well as any games that have been played using a physical game card. In the upper righthand corner, one can find things expected of any UI, such as the time, battery life remaining and wi-fi signal strength. The upper lefthand corner appears to be a friends list of sorts, where you’ll be able to manage your friends and user accounts.

Below the games section are six buttons. Three of them are detailed as News, Nintendo eShop and Album. News will give you news about the latest Switch games. Nintendo eShop allows you to purchase and download games and DLC, as well as viewing commercials for games. In Album, you can view all of your screenshots, add text to them if you wish and post them onto social media. The remaining three buttons that are not detailed look likely to be controller configurations, options/settings and power.

Also listed on the site are two ways to play multiplayer, by linking multiple consoles together and online play, and a confirmation of amiibo functionality.

The Nintendo Switch hits stores on March 3.
