With the upcoming Nintendo Switch projected to come out in a few months, fans have been waiting (again) to hear more news about when Nintendo will be giving out more details on the next gen console. Well wait no longer because according to Polygon, today Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch Presentation will be live streamed from Tokyo on January 12th. The event will be streamed live from its website (Nintendo.com/switch), and it will be starting at 11 p.m. EST and 8 p.m. PST.
Since Nintendo’s official announcement of the Switch back in October, fans have been waiting to hear more specific news about the console’s hardware and specs. Relying, instead, on mostly a short teaser trailer that the company released, fans have been left to speculate as to what games the console will be able to play and how well it will be able to play them. The trailer did confirm the long rumored removable joy-con controllers and the dock that also allows to connect the console to a television – a hybrid system, both a home and portable system.
Nintendo, however, plans on delivering these details and more. Some of the questions still lingering on player’s minds are questions regarding cost of the console and the exact release date, while also detailing what games will launch simultaneously with the console. Some of the titles that Nintendo has already confirmed are Lego City Undercover and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, however, there have been some growing rumors that Breath of the Wild will be pushed back.
Nintendo had previously patented a series of applications earlier this year that led many to believe they were incorporating several interesting elements to their new console including motion tracking, image recognition and the ability to project images onto a flat surface.
After the presentation, Nintendo plans on hosting a five-hour long Switch event in New York City, which they plan to further emphasize the system’s details. It still not yet clear how long the presentation will last, but if it’s consistent with all other Nintendo streams, it should last about 45 minutes. The Switch is scheduled to be released sometime in March 2017.
