Recently, we discovered that the dreaded Joy-Con Drift has also been an issue with the Nintendo Switch Lite. Players have been finding their characters moving or spinning even while they have their game idle. This is a much bigger issue as the Lite model does not have detachable controllers this time around. Fortunately, it seems that Nintendo is already working on a new model for the Switch Lite disregarding the fact that it was just recently released. Many are hoping this may be connected to the issues that are arising with the new Switch Lite Model and Nintendo’s plan to fix it.
The update on the new Switch model was seen on a new FCC filing spotted by Digital Trends. The report seems to show the previous model number BKEHDH001 being switched over to BKEHDH002. This shows in these cases that the change should be minor to the Switch Lite model rather than be drastic overhaul. This filing comes just days after the Switch Lite model was added to the class-action lawsuit related to the Joy-Con drift issue present with the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers.
If unaware of what Joy-Con drift is and how it started, the term came along when a large number of Switch users found that the game avatars they control were moving in unpredictable ways. Sometime even when they were not holding onto the controller. This showed the problem was related to the joystick itself. Given how grand the issue was, Switch Lite users were likely to suspect that the new model would not suffer the same issues but that wasn’t the case. Now Lite users are also affected and this in term affects their whole system rather than just one Joy-Con controller.
Thankfully, many can suspect that the quick jump to create a new model is Nintendos way of trying to patch things up quickly. No word yet how long or when the new model will be released.
