Nintendo Switch Gets Its Big 4.0.0 Update

Update 4.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch is quite a big one! It adds quite a few new features to the console with one of the most notable ones being support for video capture. After downloading the update, players can record the last 30 seconds of their gameplay and save it with the capture button. They can also edit their captures and share them on social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter.

Only a few games are supported by this feature however these include; The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Arms, Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The update isn’t currently working for Mario Kart 8, but the Switch’s news channel says the feature will be supported at the 1.3.0 version of the game although the current version is 1.2.1. So it looks like the feature will come at a later time.

Nintendo also states that many more games will add support for the video capture feature in the future. Another feature that this major update brings to the console is the ability to transfer data to another Switch. In order to do this the 4.0.0 update must be applied, and from Nintendo’s explanation it sounds like the transfer is permanent. “Once the process is complete, the user information, the associated save data, and the software purchased with the user account that is transferred will no longer be available on the source console.”

Among these features the News feed has gotten a make over and players now have new user icons for Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And thats not even all of it, you can look here for a complete look at the patch notes.
