After the last wet fart of an announcement, which was just different version of the 20th anniversary video we saw at the Nintendo Direct; we finally got a look at Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Ok, there is a lot to unpack here, so let’s go through it one by one.
First off, the starters. Game Freak isn’t shaking up the formula with Sun and Moon, so players will have the traditional choice of a fire, grass, or water starter. The starters themselves are Rowlet (Grass/Flying), Litten (Fire) and Poppilo (Water). My personal favorite is Poppilo, because he looks just so damn happy to be there.

Rowlet: (Ability Overgrow)
Rowlet is called the Grass Quill Pokémon. It can attack its prey with its powerful kicks or razor sharp leaf/feathers, without making a sound.
Litten: (Ability: Blaze)
Called the Fire Cat Pokémon, Litten is logical and passionate but doesn’t show its emotions on the surface.
Poppilo: (Ability: Torrent)
Faster in water than on land, the Sea Lion Pokémon Poppilo makes use of the elasticity of its balloons to perform acrobatic tricks.
As for who will give us our starter, we turn to Serebii, who managed to get some more details on the game. According to them his name is Hala, but jury is still out on if he is this generation’s professor. It could the guy in the background, who the trailer calls Kukui.
Kukui tells us where the game is set, the Alola region, and that along will the general look of the area confirms rumors that the game’s location is based off of Hawaii. Which you can really see in this shot of the entire region.
Now for the main event, what do the new legendary Pokémon look like?
While we still don’t have the names or types for these Pokémon, we can make some assumptions. Most likely the two Pokémon are Fire and Dark/Flying respectively.
Along with that, last month Serebii reported on a trademark made by a proxy company for Game Freak detailing two Pokémon which could be the new Legendary Pokémon. The trademark was for the names Solgaleo and Lunaala and while it’s still a rumor, the names do fit quite well.
At the end of the trailer Nintendo showed off the cover art and announced that the games will be out on November 18th for the New 3DS, original 3DS and the 2DS.
