Nintendo Publishes A New Interview For The Duskbloods With Its Director Hidetaka Miyazaki

A new three part interview from Nintendo titled “Creators Voice blog: Hidetaka Miyazaki” has recently surfaced. Gematsu shares that It covers new details to the recently announced FromSoftware multiplayer action title The Duskbloods for Nintendo Switch 2 with its director Hidetaka Miyazaki. Fromsoftware has produced popular titles such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring.

In The Duskbloods players will assume the role of a “Bloodsworn”, a group whose members have attained super-human abilities through the power of special blood. They are similar to vampires, though not associated with the horrifying aspects of traditional vampirism; Their goal is to compete for “First Blood” in an event known as “Twilight of humanity” or the end of mankind. In the interview Miyazaki explains “The Bloodsworn are summoned to the Twilight of Humanity across a variety of different times and places in a bid to obtain First Blood.”

Hidetaka Miyazaki  explains that the game is an online multiplayer focused game, including player versus player and player versus enemy gameplay, however that “As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn’t mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward.”

The Duskbloods includes a hub area where players can customize their character. Online play supports 8 players; Players will earn their victory rewards in the online hub. Certain victory conditions can only be met by defeating a Boss. Players will earn Victory Points through a myriad of ways such as direct combat or even avoiding behaving opportunistically. Players can summon an ‘entity’ to fight with them in combat.

Many elements are at play in this title, including designated roles; players may find themselves designated a ‘companion’ or ‘rival’ and be rewarded for engaging the other player. It seems there is something here for everyone, even players who prefer to remain outside the battle. With Elden Ring Nightreign releasing next month, and with The Duskbloods on the horizon Fromsoftware may be opening the doors to a host of new gameplay experiences.
