This September’s Nintendo Direct is displaying a variety of games for players to look forward to and one of them is by Ghost Town Games, the same creators behind the renowned Overcooked franchise. Stage Fright was first announced back at The Game Awards 2024, which was held in LA. It has been a project long in the making, but the same heart was put into the game as their Overcooked ones.
Stage Fright is meant to be couch co-op game with split-screen gameplay, but there will be an online feature available. Players can expect to find the same chaos as in the developer’s previous games, but now with a mix of escape room inspired team collaboration.
There are three playable characters that players will switch between as the story unfolds. They must guide Drew, Blake, and Charlie through Mysterious Town, solve escape rooms, and navigate their spooky environment. Stage Fright is a coming-of-age story rich game that is told from the unique perspectives of each character.
The gameplay trailer revealed today highlights a variety of monstrous enemies and environments. From lush forests to gloomy forests, the game proves to be an adventure filled with memorable moments, especially as skeletal sea creatures swim under the player’s boat. One notable area is a winding checkered staircase that leaves viewers wondering where it could possibly lead to.
Another notable highlight from the trailer is that there are creatures that will chase the player with a light overhead that clears their path forward. The gameplay teases that objects in the environment play a key role to protecting players and helping them progress further. It is done in the spirit true to escape room fashion.
Ghost Town Games plans on releasing Stage Fright in 2027 for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch users. There has been no news if the game will be available for other console players, but more information on that will be revealed overtime. Players interested in the game can start wishlisting the game today.
