Nintendo Direct March 2027: Virtual Game Cards, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, & More

With the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct set for next week, everyone was surprised when (in typical Nintendo fashion) they announced that there would be a Nintendo Direct today. They made it clear that there would be no Switch 2 news announced but would be providing updates on upcoming Nintendo Switch games. With that, here’s a rundown of everything they announced.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is set to launch later this year. Continuing the Erdrick Trilogy, this new trailer showcases new looks at gameplay as well as the first look at a familiar character.

No Sleep for Kaname Dante – From AI: The Somnium Files has players assume the role of Kaname Date, a special agent with an AI partner. Togther, they will conduct interviews, dive into people’s dreams, and solve mind-bending puzzles in a mission to rescuse Iris, an internet idol who was trapped in a mysterious escape game. The game launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 25.

Radiou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army has been announced. This ATLUS Action RPG has players assume the role of Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha as he works alongside demon allies to unravel the mysteries that block your path. This new version will feature several upgrades over the original including revamped visuals, voice acting, battle system and more. The game launches on Nintendo Switch June 19.

A new look at Shadow Labyrinth was revealed. The game is set to launch for Nintendo Switch on July 18. The game is a unique take on the iconic PAC-MAN series where the player is awoken by a mysterious floating orb known as PUCK. Teaming up together, the player, Swordsman No. 8 and PUCK can transform into different styles, one, in the classic PAC-MAN style, and the other as a mecha contruct called GAIA.

Patapon is coming to Nintendo Switch with Patapon 1+2 Replay. The game is set to launch on July 11. Players will command the mysterious creatures by the rythm of four drums. Different beats will give different commands to your patapon army.

STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar is a cozy farming simulator game which was originally released on Nintendo DS. This new version features updated visuals, new characters, an expanded story and voiced event scenes. The game launches on Nintendo Switch August 27.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond got a brand new trailer focuses on planet Vieros. The trailer showcased Samus’ scanning ability which can be used to traverse the environment, the enemies that she’ll have to face, and pyschic abilities which Samus can use to operate mechanisms and even control her energy beams.

Disney Villians Cursed  Café was announced. Players will open up a coffee shop and have Disney villians as customers where they can converse with the likes of Cruella de Vil, The Evil Queen, Gaston, Captain Hook, Jafar, Maleficent, Ursula and more navigating branching storylines. Brewing a variety of potions for each villian will steer them towards their desires while uncovering the mystery of the  café.

In Witchbrook, players will enroll in Witchbrook College as the newest witch in the city of Mossport. Players will craft goods to grow their business, customize their cottage and garden to suit your style; Make friends, find love, and discover a world filled with wonder and charm on the road to graduation and beyond!

The Eternal Life of Goldman is a hand-drawn, story-driven action 2D platforming adventure. Players will assume the role of Goldman whose mission is to track down the fabled Deity, a legendary figure no one has seen in a mysterious Archipelago.

Gradius Origins is a collection of old-school arcade games coming to Nintendo Switch on August 7. There will be 17 versions of six arcade classics: GRADIUSSALAMANDERLIFE FORCEGRADIUS IIGRADIUS III and SALAMANDER 2. The collection will bring in the long-awaited GRADIUS III AM Show version, and a brand new entry: SALAMANDER III.

Rift of the Necrodancer launches later today. Cadence and friends are back in an all new rhythm game where each note is a monster to dispatch. Dragged into a strange new world, you’ll face pulse-pounding Rhythm Rifts where every beat is a battle, all set to an original electric soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky and friends.

Tamagotchi Plaza is the next entry in the Tomagotchi series. The game launches June 27. Set in the charming Tamahiko Town, players will manage a dozen different shops and engage with over 100 Tamagotchi as you take orders and help with lost items and enhance each shop’s reputation.

A new trailer was released for Pokemon Legends Z-A, showcasing a new look at Lumiouse City and how people and pokemon coexist. When night falls, the Z-A Royale occurs as trainers looking to battle all come out. The goal is to from Rank Z all the way to A. The game is set to launch later this year.

Rhythm Heaven Groove is a brand new entry into the Rhythm Heaven series, featuring a wealth of eclectic rhythm games along with music produced by the renowned Japanese musician Tsunku.

Nintendo has announced virtual game cards, a new way to look at digital games. Instead of having to redownload a game, a new virtual game card tab is available where players can load up all of their games on to a system. Players can load and eject games from different systems. Players can also lend their vitual game cards to mermbers in a Nintendo Account family group. Only one game can be shared for two weeks. After the two week peroid, the game will go back to the owner. Saved data will not be erased. The new feature will be available on Nintendo Switch following a hardware system update late April.

High on Life is coming March 6. Star Overdrive launches exclusively to Nintendo Switch on April 10. The Waning Village is comig July 17. Lou’s Lagoon is set to launch this Summer. King of Meat will launch this Summer. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time launches May 21.

SaGa Frontier 2 Remaster is a remake of the game coming to Nintendo Switch. New events and more characters will be available in this new version. Stats can be transferred between characters and there are new powerful bosses for players to conquer.

Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch April 18. Monument Valley III will make its way to the system this Summer.

A new entry into the EVERYBODY’S GOLF series is coming to Nintendo Switch. EVERYBODY’S GOLF: Hot SHOTS features a single-player Challenge mode to unlock characters and courses. A new Wacky Golf mode is also available, where all sorts of shenanigans can help or hinder your chances.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a new beat-em up where players can assume the role of Marvel heroes such as Wolverine, Spider-Man, Nova, Captain America and more, in a star-spanning battle against Super Villain Annihilus. The game features dynamic tag-team fighting with a pixel art style that embodies classic MARVEL character designs. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch this Winter.

Tomagachi Life: Living the Dream was officially announced. It’s the first new entry in the series in over 10 years. The game will launch in 2026. Create your own Mii characters based on yourself, friends, family – anyone! – and watch them live their lives on an island out at sea. Get involved with their relationships and experience all the weird and wonderful ways these Mii characters interact, including in their dreams.

Nintendo has announced Nintendo Today, a new app that fuctions like a daily calander. Any Nintendo account user can access the app where they can view different Nintendo events and content about different Nintendo games and characters every day. After the Switch 2 Direct next week, Nintendo says that news about the system will be delivered directly to the app as well. Nintendo Today is available to download today.
